The Great HDMI Cable Scam

January 22, 2010

So, you’re in your local electronics store (Best Buy) and you’ve just bought a nice LCD, blu-ray or PS3 and they attempt to sell you a HDMI cable for $100.  This is a SCAM!!  You can buy an HDMI cable that is the 100% equivalent on Amazon for $10 or less (Link provided below).  While there are certain parts of a home theater system that can benefit from expensive cables or wires (i.e. your speakers), the HDMI cable is not one of them. Since the signal is digital it either works or it doesn’t.  Just make sure the product is “HDMI 1.3 compliant”. So, enjoy the money you saved and buy yourself some blu-ray movies.
