Boxee Netflix UI Updated

September 1, 2011

The much maligned Netflix HTML5 interface for Playstation3 has made its way over to the D-Link Boxee box. Netflix started rolling out this interface early this year with the bulk of PS3 users being moved in June. The new interface removes the high level menu and instead presents one level of categories to browse. There is a maximum limit of 75 titles per category. There is also a prominent “Search” button now displayed at the top of the screen. Reaction is mostly thumbs down on the Boxee forum. It appears it’s just a matter of time until the new interface migrates to the remaining HTML5 Netflix players.

We’ve also updated our Netflix UI Gallery with with the new Boxee interface, pre-2011 LG players and the Roku 2. The big cover-art interface used before 2011 (LG) is the one featured on Netflix’s current TV commercials.

Update: The WD Live boxes have also moved to the new HTML5 interface

I HATE the new interface! I want the old interface BACK!

I called Netflix customer support and told them politely that I too found the new interface aweful and that I wanted the old one back. If enough folks do the same, it's possible that Netflix might do something about it.
