CES Unveiled: Cool products from RCA, Optoma, OLPC and Dish

January 9, 2012

To wrap up our coverage of the kick-off CES Unveiled events here’s some other neat products I saw:

Marvell showed the new OLPC Tablet that they supply the chips for. It can be charged via hand-crank or by its solar panel cover.

RCA unveiled the first streaming sound bar. Based on the same software used in their streaming box launched last fall, it offers Netflix, Hulu Plus, VUDU, YouTube and Pandora. It would be fun to take it for a test drive. One model will be offered with a wireless subwoofer while another one will just be the sound bar.

Dish Network unveiled their updated iPad app that lets you stream on-demand content. Content from premium channels such as HBO and EPIX are included. It doesn’t preclude Dish customers from using the HBO GO app separately. The Dish Sling adapter is only needed if you want to watch live TV through the app.

Optoma showed off three new mini-projectors. Here’s a look at the smallest one.
