The Game of Thrones season two premiere is right around the corner. Despite the warm weather this Feburary, winter is coming with a heaping helping of war for the premiere on April 1st at 9 PM. For folks who subscribe to HBO, a new trailer previewing season 2 will be available on HBO GO Friday, February 24th at midnight. The HBO GO app is now available on the iPhone, iPad, select Android devices as well as the Roku and now select Samsung Smart TVs. If you don’t use the HBO GO app (or if your cable company is preventing you from accessing it), it will also played on the HBO broadcast channel this weekend as well. For those of us who don’t subscribe to HBO, the trailer will be available on the Internet on Sunday. I’ll post a copy here when it’s available.
I’ll guess that the idea to put the latest season 2 trailer on HBO GO first was the brainchild of Alison Moore, HBO’s senior VP of digital platforms. Because of the HBO GO app, HBO was recently featured by Fast Company as the one of the fifty most innovative companies. Fast Company highlighted Moore as one of the driving forces behind it. One interesting note in the profile piece is how HBO customers re-watch episodes to take advantage of app’s special interactive features. For Game of Thrones, users have access to helpful information such as maps and family trees during episodes (on-line web version here). Yes, it’s hard to keep track of everyone vying for the Iron Throne.
Until the new teaser is availalble, here’s the preview from the beginning of February
