Released this past weekend at Wondercon, the trailer for the new Battlestar Galactica prequel series, Blood and Chrome premiered. Set to “Immigrant Song”, the trailer is fast-paced and full of action. Compared to Caprica, the first Battlestar Galactica prequel, it looks like Blood and Chrome is going to have a lot of space battles and fight scenes. In the promo, there’s plenty of Colonial Vipers, Battlestars and Base Stars duking it out. This prequel is set after Caprica but before Battlestar Galactica, dealing with the events of the first Cylon War and a young Commander Adama. Based on a tweet from Bear McCreary, it sounds like he has scored the two-hour premiere and he’s proud of it. He’s also done the themes for the The Walking Dead and The Sarah Conner Chronicles.
Based on what I read at Crave and some other sites, it’s unclear if Blood and Chrome will be shown on Sci-Fi (I refuse to use the new spelling), the web or not at all. Perhaps the trailer was unveiled as a trial ballon for Sci-Fi to figure out if they should go ahead or not. One way to ensure it’s on TV is to write to the folks at Sci-Fi. Maybe they should work with Netflix and bring the series direct to streaming! Paging Reed Hastings….
Update (3/22/2012) Deadline is reporting that SciFi has decided that the 90 minute pilot for Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome will air on TV. After that, it will be a digital series that is “beyond the scope of a television screen”.
Here’s the trailer from Crave’s site. It’s the only one I could find that hasn’t been taken down by NBC Universal yet. Enjoy it while you can! Launch Vipers!
